This conference aims to introduce business opportunity in ASEAN, to promote Indonesia as future business center in ASEAN, to enhance student leadership and business skills as well as to promote ASEAN awareness. The opening was held on June 8 at 6.00 pm at BiNus International University. Dean of Students gave the welcoming remarks, while the project leader greeted all the participants.

The second day was conducted at FX Lifestyle X’nter from 8.30 am – 5.00 pm. There were some executives from ASEAN secretariat who gave the opening speech and greetings. As a keynote speech, “Customer Insight in South East Asia” was brought by Mr. Yongky Susilo, retailer service director from Nielsen Indonesia. For the panel session, the speakers were a representative from Singapore Embassy, Mrs. Shanti from ASEAN Outreach, and an Indonesian young entrepreneur Mr. Hendy Setiono. Ultimately, it was closed by another panel discussion about “Competing in ASEAN Market” by speakers from BNP Paribas Investment Partners, General Motors Indonesia, Jatis Solusindo, and Microsoft Indonesia.

We went to BiNus International campus again for the third day. In the morning, Mr. James Bartle from School of Banking & Finance UNSW Australia gave us the latest insight about globalization. The Youth Leadership for Community session was very inspiring because the speakers are still young; Alanda Kariza, Indonesian representative for Global Changemakers and Goris Mustaqim, founder of Asgar Muda. For the Entrepreneurship session, we learnt “Happynomics” from a well-known creative entrepreneur Yoris Sebastian. In the evening, we went to FX again to have the Cultural Night Dinner, which was hosted by Iman Usman as the ASEAN Youth Ambassador (he’s Indonesian Future Leaders President).

Then, Iman Usman shared some advices for starting community project. After that, the committee chose some of the participants to be the candidates as the chairman of the RYLC 2010 community. The committee also chose me for the election. As a result, one of my friends from Universitas Surabaya, Sherly Molle became the chairman as she got the highest votes. Thus, we had a short discussion about our new community. On that day, we also had an excursion. First, we went to Istiqlal Mosque and Cathedral. Second, we went to Museum Fatahillah. Third, we went to Pasar Seni. Finally, we had our farewell dinner at Bandar Djakarta, Ancol. As the closing of RYLC 2010, we did the student declaration, where the chairman of the community led us to take an oath to become ASEAN young leaders and be responsible with it. Eventually, we went home with the unforgettable 4-days-memory in our hearts.
