On 30 January 2010, Indonesian Future Leaders team and some volunteers again conducted the Children Behind Us activity at Pondok Aren, Bintaro. This week’s activity was the creativity class. Besides using the toys the British International School had contributed previously as one of the media to stimulate the kids’ creativity, we provided some other materials, such as Origami papers, glue, and used cartons. Why those materials? Because the School kids were to make a picket schedule, and both the School and Pre-School ones were to list each of their names on boards provided.

As for the Pre-School group, the kids were given colourful Origami papers to write on their names and any drawing they wanted to put on. Then, they sticked the papers to a board that had been prepared prior. The kids were genuinely excited as they decided at which position on the board they wanted to stick their papers to. Besides doing their own papers, they also helped us with the decoration of the board; some of them contributed paintings, and the others helped us to stick the ornaments we had been prepared prior to the board.

After some time, the work was finally finished. The kids’ creations were really splendid, and the decoration of the board turned out to be extraordinarily gratifying. At the School class, the mechanism of the activity was very much likely the same with the one at Pre-School. The difference was that besides making the name list, the School kids were also supposed to make a picket schedule. The making of the name list’s mechanism was exactly the same as the Pre-School’s, however, the making process of the picket schedule is quite different from the name list’s. To make the picket schedule, they were given a large carton to then write on lists of names that were then to be in charge for the cleaning-ups on the first until the fourth week of a month. Their creations, like the Pre-School’s, were also very exceptional.

As usual, the classes were dismissed after two hours. Starting from this time, we started the class at 1:30 PM and ended it at 3:30 PM to give the kids time to have their lunch first before attending the class. So, at 3:30 PM, we, Rafika Primadesti, Dwi Khairani, Aldila Cesaria, Tania Rizki, Widiani Putri, and Siward Mandira signed out.
